Dorothy Zygmunt
Hello, my name is Dorothy Zygmunt, most people call me Dee. My family and I have lived in Hanover for 13 years. I have always tried to be very involved with my community. I am married, and have 3 wonderful kids.
My first involvement with Suicide Prevention began in September of 2010. I signed up to for the Hanover Community Walk to support a friend that was involved. Little did I know that was the beginning of my Journey. On November 16, 2010, my life changed forever when I lost my 24 year old son Jack to Suicide. I have learned first- hand that Suicide knows no boundaries. It comes like a thief in the night, sneaking into the minds of the broken hearted and hopeless, it stops at nothing until it takes someone with it. It shows no remorse or regard for life. It doesn’t care how many it hurts in the end.
I have been involved in 3 Community Walks now, and have since joined forces with 3 of the ladies to form Hanover Journey of HOPE. We are dedicated to raising awareness about Suicide Prevention and getting as much information out into the communities as possible. There are many other options out there. Let us help you find them.
My vow is to do everything I can to try to prevent another beautiful person from ending their life too soon. Suicide is not the answer… the pain doesn’t end with the suicide; it passes itself on to those left behind suffering the tragic loss of a loved one. My HOPE is that together as a Community We can help change that fate.
Because…Every life should last a life time!
