Kim Smith-Cromer
Hi, my name is Kim Smith-Cromer. I grew up in Hanover and raised my kids in Hanover also. I’m the mother of three kids and the “Mimi” to four beautiful grandchildren. I have many hobbies; painting and photography are my favorite!
I moved away for about four years but moved back home in 2007. When I was living in Maryland I started to hear about walks for suicide prevention and it sparked an interest; it wasn’t until I moved back home that I started to research to learn more about the walk and how to start one. I had intentions of only doing one walk but that has grown into a committee of three other ladies and a vision of doing suicide prevention and educational outreach for our community. I lost my brother and nephew to suicide. The pain our entire family felt was astronomical.
I want everyone to know that they are not alone in their journey. Whether they are a survivor of suicide or someone thinking of committing suicide, there are family and friends surrounding you, who love and care about you. There are resources and support available, all you have to do is ask. And please, don’t be ashamed by asking for help. You are worth it!
